Rise Against

Ugh, APUSH, you will be the death of me.

Anywho, heard about this band, Rise Againt today and checked it out. I thought it would be some horrible electronic Indie band but it wasn't. I listened to their song Make It Stop (September's Children) and it was pretty good! I've put the video below so you can all see it. It is supposed to give hope to the LGBT community that "it gets better".

So whaddya think? Not too shabby huh? Lemme know in the comments what your views are.

Folger's Commercial

Is this not the SWEETEST folger's commercial ever?!

Though I kinda get the feeling that a little something is brewing between the "brother" and "sister", and it's not the coffee, hmm? They are a little too nice to each other, no? But holy cow, is that girl not the cutest ever? "You're my present." These writers are getting better I tell you. And that guy, WOW. A humanitarian and he still doesn't forget to get his sister a gift. How sweet?

UPDATE on my life: Summer

Soo, It is almost August. My summer has been pretty boring when I'm not off somewhere out of town. The day I got out of school my sister, brother, dad, and I all got in the car for the long car ride to go visit my relatives. We stayed there for the weekend, visiting my grandparents on both sides of the family, and my great grandmother. My sister asked her a lot of questions about her younger days, like if she participated in marathon dances (which I had thought at the time were people running  a marathon in a dancing fashion. I later found out the next week that marathon dances were people dancing for a very long time as a competition.)
Best Game ever made

When we left my grandparent's, My dad drove to my aunt's house where I stayed for the next week in order to attend my cousin's graduation party. As I am the only one in my family who doesn't have a job, I was the only one who stayed the week. It was fun hanging out with my FIVE cousin's, but I can see where it gets overwhelming. During this week, I realized that young boys cannot paint walls, but can sure make a mess. I also (re)learned how funny accent's are, and that I should buy Ghost Recon (there are four boys, and they have a lot of video games). I also expressed with them that despite their extensive collection of video games, they lack a single Legend of Zelda game. I also learned during this week that Kidz Kuts (a hair cutting place that specializes in children) is a really cool place for young children to get their hair cut. They can play a video game or watch a movie while getting their hair cut so they won't be as antsy. Very smart idea.

So to end that week, my Aunt drove me to a mid-way point so my mom would pick me up there and take me back home. We also dropped one of my cousin's off at his summer camp. My Aunt sends all her children to a month long summer camp every summer, and all I can say is PROPS TO YOU! She deserves a break :)
So Then I get home and have two weeks of chill time, where I truly chill. I do basically nothing (don't hate! It's my summer!) The next week my family and I go south on vacation. We stayed in a very nice wooded cabin high in the mountains. Due to the fact that we went south, it got very hot. and even more humid. Disgustingly humid. I cringe thinking about it. But it was fun none the less. My mom cooked everyday, and we had a full breakfast every morning. We went to a couple of attractions, including an interesting and competitive game of mini golf set in the mountains. Then we went home and that's where I am now.
I bought more string due to the fact that I finished knitting my first scarf (mostly purple, with a few blue and silvery-yellow stripes). This new scarf was suppose to be rainbow but it turned out to have odd looking stripes. Not bad, just odd? Yuppers, that's it. Now let's do some shoutouts!

1st shout-out goes to Jessica, for dealing with my family and me during vacation.

2nd shout out to my lovely parents, for taking me on vacation!

3rd shout out for Carrie-kins, because she dealt with me putting off our HP party. I'm seeing HP7 pt. 2 next week, so don't tell me any spoilers (even though I've red the book)

4th shout-out goes to C, HAPPY 16TH BIRTHDAY!

Funy Game!

So i found this fun game called "Vampire Physics". No, it does not actually involve any math or science, so cool your jets. In the game you are trying to turn all the humans into vampires, whilst avoiding garlic, werewolves, rival vampires, and priests, all of which can kill you. You do this by clicking on wood (which will always break) to drop, push, or in any other way move the characters around to accomplish your goal of making a vampire army! Try it out

Play with Kittehs!

So, whilst in the middles of my online escapades, I can across a wonderful site where you can play with cats in an animal shelter using robot toys. By simply pushing a button, a toy will move around in some way, and (hopefully) the cats will play with. You can watch, in real time, the animal shelter room, and chat with other people who are also on the site too, if you choose. Check it out, it's pretty neat.

Operation Beautiful

Whilst watching an episode of "The Doctors" where some Hollywood doctors talk about health and junk, i heard them talk about a woman who started a project called "Operation Beautiful". In this project, you are supposed to write some positive message on a post-it note and put it in some random place. The goal is to end the toxic negative self-talk. Like this:

hydrant  or this

CIMG3270

Pretty neat huh? I think it would be fun! just leave them in school textbooks or the bathroom windows, stuff like that. What do ya think? Wanna join me? Check the website where you can find other peoples post-its:

Product Reviews!

  • Mio Water flavorings two stars
I was pretty disappointed in this one. I don't know why, but I just thought this would taste good. Some would argue with me, but i don't think that this tastes that good. I have tried the mango peach and the berry pomegranite. The mango peach, in my opinion was better than the berry pomegranite, but both were not very good. They tasted ok at first, but the after-taste was pretty bad. it was the after-taste you get when drinking, get this, flavored water. that weird chemically bitter aftertaste that stays in the back of your throat? Thats what this tastes like. Just a warning...
  • V8 V-fusion   four stars
V8 was a lot better than I expected. Despite the advertising, i really thouht that this would taste like vegetables. But instead, itpretty much tastes like fruit juice. There is a slight undertone taste of something else (my guess it that it's the vegetables in the juice), but it doesn't taste like a carrot or anything. V8 V-fusion also comes in many different flavors, like the concord grape raspberry i'm drinking now :)

  • Bath & Body Works Body Lotion Bali Mango five stars

First of all, I'm probably bias to Bath & Body works because I have had a long history of loving their stuff (doe that make bias?) Anyway, this scent is very nice! The scent is prevelent, but not overpowering. But it isn't too soft either, a very happy medium amout of delicious fruity scent. mmmmm.

  • Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstain in Cherry Pop four stars

I had high hopes for this, but the biggest down fall is probably my fault. I thought cherry pop would be a light reddish color, but no, its darker. Which shocked me, so when I tried to wipe of some of it to make the color lighter, it was pretty hard! Which would have been a good thing if I had liked the color. I eventually rubbed some of it off so it looked better. But the color stayed on even after going swimming for an hour and eating dinner (mmmm tacos). So yeah, it stays! just get a lighter color unless you want to look like you just ate a cherry snow cone. Also, the application was weird, it was like drawing with marker on my lips. It would spread like gloss will if you mush your lips together, so it was kind of awkward. Oh well.

Prezi

Have any of your teachers assigned you to make a Prezi yet? Cuz I have. I have been assigned to do a prezi FOUR TIMES. I just learned what a prezi was about... three weeks ago. since then, each teacher has been like "Have you ever heard of a Prezi?" I was shocked at first, because usually i know about new technology before the teachers do, but I had never heard of this. I also thought it was a one time deal at first. Just one teacher know about this program, i'll never do one again. But nooooo.
Next my health teacher was like "Hey, new project guys! We're gonna do Prezi's!" huh? Another Prezi? Then my Chem teacher was like "For this project you can do a PowerPoint, a video, a Prezi, etc." What? She knows about Prezi too? Its like we found a new type of wheel that everyone must try. It's like silly bands, or Ugg shoes; Everyone know about it!
I kind of hope Prezi's are a fad. I'm not sure that i'm ready for a total overthrow of the PowerPoint. I was just beginning to master the custom animation, and now i have to learn a new system. Although i must admit, Prezi's are much, much easier to use than PowerPoint, the user-friendly interface comes with limited presentation options.

Phobia's

Ants. It may seem weird, or just plain stupid, but ants scare me really bad. Maybe it's because i watched a special on the Discovery channel about bugs tat kill you, or maybe it was that series of movies on giant insects (do you remember that? there was one on mosquitos, and termites or something...). AnYwAy, it's not like, one or two ants that scare me, it's like the hives of ants that freak me out, like i flip out and can't go near them. I googled the medical name for it, and it's called Myrmecophobia.

So, what are your phobias? Are you like 56% of america, and fear public speaking? What about the 16% of adults who fear the dark? Leave your fear in the comments

Happy Birthday Robert Bunsen!

So I go on the internet and like any other person in the world i go to Google search engine. But today was special, because Google had a special font for it's name.

I look and I think "neat, but what for?" I hover my mouse over the picture and see the words "Happy 200th Birthday Robert Bunsen!"

WHAT?! Normally this wouldn't be so awesome. But the reason that it's awesome (at least to me) is that we learned about Robert Bunsen and the Bunsen Burner today in chem! To me, coincidences are just about the coolest thing. Like, this just made my day right there. Oh Google, your the best.

Hmm, this was a short post, how about some (wait for it...) SHOUT OUTS!

1st shout out goes to my dad for bringing me back a gift when you went on your trip!

2nd shoout out goes to my Chemistry teacher for letting me take me test this afternoon and for coincidentally teaching about bunsen burners on Robert Bunsen's 200th birthday!

3rd shout out goes to Edison and Sarah because they "do it in the dark" :)

Product Review

So, I haven't posted  in a while....  and I don't know what to really post about, so I might as well post what i have been using recently.

  • Special K Vanilla Almond   Five Stars
Very good! Pretty healthy for you, and it tastes good with milk, yoghurt, or just dry. Highly reccomended!
  • Special K Chocolatey Delight   Five Stars
Also a very good breakfast cereal. This version has larger flakes that Vanilla Almond which makes it better for snacking. There is legit chocolate flakes in the cereal, and the flakes are mocha flavored. Very yummy!

  • Sabra Hummus (all flavors) Five Stars
mmmmm, Hummus. If you don't know what Hummus is, it is a thick chip/cracker/ pretzel dip made out of mashed chick peas, olive-oil, and garlic sometimes with other ingrediants. It has a grainy texture, and is really impossible for me to explain what it tastes like because it is so unique. Try some, you will probably lke it!

The Evil Red-Head

In very many books, movies, T.V. shows, video games, and more an evil redhead is present. Darn Gingers. The evil ginger sterrotype has actually been around for a long time. Way back when, red hair was suposedly the sign of a witch, which is kinda funny thinkinh about all the ginger witchs/wizards we have (Ron Weasly, Will from W.I.T.C.H., Gillian Owens from the movie Practical Magic, Willow from Buffy, etc). Satan was also said to have favored red hair. In eastern Europe, babies born with red hair were often killed because of their hair color.
Here is a list of some I have compiled to express my point.

  • Mertle, Lilo and Stitch
  • Ganondorf, Legend of Zelda
  • Poisen Ivy, Batman Comics
  • Yosemite Sam, Looney Tunes
  • Anastasia (evil stepsisiter), Cinderella
  • Syndrome, The Incredibles
  • The Red Queen, the NEW Alice in Wonderland
  • Victoria, Twilight
  • (maybe) Pandora, Greek mythology
  • Bowser, Super Mariop Bros
  • Vicky, The Fairly Odd Parents
  • Candace, from Phineas And Ferb
  • Durza, Eragon
Of course not all redheads are evil. I have a couple awesome ginger friends, and they are definatly not evil (well, meybe a little...). In fact, there are some pretty heroic redheads like Sally in the Nightmare Before Christmas, Thor, The Mad Hatter in the NEW Alice in Wonderland, Ariel, Hercules (Disney version), Pippi Longstockoing, John wayne, and even the great Chuck Norris.
Does anyone have anymore? Feel free to leave a comment with some more evil red heads.

Accident Prone

Ok, so I think I might be a little accident prone. Or maybe its just bad luck.

I was never this... clumsy... in the past. Other than the normal awkward phases, I believe that I was not clumsy. Not in any respects graceful, but not clumsy.

This may come as a shock, but I think I broke something...or somethings. And these are important things too. Things I don't think I could live without.

I think i broke the Blender, the Wii, and my CD drive on my computer. The blender makes a burning smell when you leave it on for a few minutes. An not when your blending hot things either. I was making a raspberry-pineapple smoothie when this occured. Do you think the frozen raspberries and ice were too much for the blender to handle? I hope it was just me and that the blender isn't really broken. Because I really want a smoothie.

The Wii is defintly broken. The little light on the power button is off. Not red, but not making any light at all. Its kind of freaky. I tried unplugging then replugging in all the cables for the Wii on the console and then on the T.V. and outlet and nothing changed. When I unplugged the power cord from the Wii, the light came on, but when I tried to push the power button (to turn it on) the game slot would flash blue light, then the whole thing would shut down again back to where it started. I looked up the problem on the internet and it says i need to get a new power cord. Luckly, they aren't that expensive (especially if you buy online). I just hope ot works...

The third thing is the worst, because I have no idea how to fix it. My computer itself is working fine (although your definition of fine can vary). Its just when i try to put a CD or game into the drive, that things get nutty. Usually, the computer wither won't recognize that there is a CD, or it won't recognize it and freeze, or it will do all of that then crash. Sometimes it will recognize the CD, but when I try to sync the CD  to Itunes, it won't copy any music. So what do i do? Can I replace the CD drive (which are $60-$100)? Do I have to clean something? Please Google, tell me what to do!

UPDATE on my life: Chill'in

Ahh, mid-January. The time of Finals/midterms. The time where holiday cash burns holes in children's pockets. A time where getting an unscheduled day off of school is a possibility. A time where the sounds of metal scraping concrete and fierce trumpets from noses are heard everywhere. Sound like fun?

I've been trying to do some homework today, but have pleasantly failed, due to addictive daytime TV ( Law and Order SVU anyone?). I should have gotten this done yesterday, but didn't. But hey it isn't due for a couple days now, so why not procrastinate. And it's not like I haven't started it yet, right?

I realize that I have been skimping on my pictures, so let me just update that for ya...

This is Maddy's Bumblebee costume I got her for Christmas.

Found this on the Internet, thought you'd like it. Poor Alice...
Ok, so this one on the left deserves a little more explanation than a caption. I originally just wanted the girl to be barefoot on the swing, but as it turns out, drawing feet are hard. So I was eventually like "screw it", and drew frog legs. I think the frog legs turned out pretty nice, and instead of titling the picture something simple like "girl on a swing", I titled it "Sammakonreisiä" which is Finnish for "frog legs". Well, at least Google translate thinks it's Finnish for "Frog Legs".
Anyhow, I didn't paint this one, though I did plan too. I decided to color it with colored pencils because I got new fancy ones for Christmas. Look at the different shades of green going on! It's amazing!

So, yeah. There really isn't much going on for me today, So how about some shoutouts?

1st shout out goes to Rebecca D, her mom Mrs. D, her lil' sister Delany, and her cool Grandma Ms.Cathy, for taking me to the mall and introducing me to the super awesome Nordstrom's Cafe. Thanks a ton you guys!

2nd shout out goes to my Mom and Dad, for taking C and me out on Saturday. I had lots of fun, thanks!

3rd shout out goes to the snow, for keeping me out of school! You're the best!

Story Sunday #11

There once was a girl who had tried to write a story all day. This girl failed at that and ended up still not having a story at 11pm. This girl was very tierd, and was sick of watching the Golden Globes.  The girl gave up and started typeing what she was thinking, just so she could get this over with. That girl then won a million dollars on the lottery and moved to her dream house in Washington, where she could enjoy the rain all day and watch daytime tv. THE END

Story Sunday #10!!

This week will be a pick-your-own adventure, and a bad one at that. So all you have to do is read the first section, then pick one of the sentences after the section. Within the sentence it will tell you what section you should go to next. The sections are marked with a green number 1-10. Have Fun!

1) Victor was quietly doing his Chemistry homework in his bedroom, when he heard a knock at his door. Victor liked to keep his door shut because if it wasn't the family cat, Gimli, would come into his room and pounce on things he shouldn't. Just yesterday for example, Victor neglected to completely shut his door when he came home from school, and Gimli came in and began clawing his sweater which he had left on the floor. Although the sweater was saved in time, it was a close call.
Victor pushed his rolling chair away from his desk and got up to answer the knock at his door, when he heard a distinct crunch sound coming from where he had just stepped.

A) stepped on his brother's glasses, go to 3
b) stepped on a potato chip that was left on the floor, go to 4
c)stepped on a CD, go to 7

2) Victor only knows one thing to do; blame it on Gimli. He opens his bedroom door to see what the knock was, but all he finds is Gimli, rolling around with a mouse toy.  Victor goes back and  cleans up the crime scene. Within minutes, Nathan opens the front door. Nathan plays basketball at the rec center on Wednesdays, so he gets home later than Victor. Victor tries to remain calm while he listens to Nathan walk up the stairs. He tries to sound calm when he answers Nathan's yelled greeting from the kitchen. He tried to not to giggle or squeak when Nathan entered their shared bedroom. He tried not to ask "whatcha looking for?" when he saw Nathan searching the drawers and floor. Then finally, he tried to be unsuspicious when Nathan finally asked "Victor, do you know where my glasses are?"
"Your glasses? Oh! Gimli was messing with them earlier. I only found out after it was too late." Said Victor, his voice only squeaking once.
"UGH! That darn cat!" Yelled Nathan. He stormed off to find Gimli, and Victor relaxed in his chair. THE END!

3) Victor looked down in horror to see the small pieces of glass and bent metal beneath his shoe. His brother's glass' were beyond repair. After the initial shock went away, victor began panicking. Nathan would not be happy about this, in fact it would be more like an inferno. Victor knew he couldn't fix the glass's and buying new ones would be hopeless.

a) blame it on Gimli, go to 2
b) say they were already broken, go to 5
c)Throw them away and pretend it never happened, go to 4

4) Victor sighed and picked the pieces up. He opens his bedroom door to find Gimli there, rolling around with a mouse toy. victor slides Gimli away from his room with his foot, then tosses the pieces  into the kitchen garbage bin. As he was walking down the hallway, Victor saw that his door was wide open. He had forgot to shut the door on his way out! He ran down the rest of the hallway and into his room, but it was too late, Gimli was already pouncing on his homework, making it slide across the floor. Small holes and tears crippled the pages, and made reading them impossible, or a least a real pain.

a) give up on homework and go watch TV, go to 8
b) attempt to get homework online, go to 9

5) Victor stared at the pieces in awe. How could he have missed seeing them? He couldn't tell Nathan about breaking the glasses, he would go berserk! Victor carefully picked up the pieces and went to answer the door. At the door was Gimli, just rolling around with a mouse toy. Victor shut the door behind him, and walked to the kitchen. He carefully arranged the glasses pieces on the floor to make it look as if they had been there originally. Feeling mildly thirsty, Victor filled up a cup with orange juice and walked back to his room. Victor sat down on his rolling chair, took a sip of orange juice, and then placed the cup on the drink coaster that sat on his desk. But Victor accidentally missed putting his cup directly on the coaster, and instead put it half on and half off. this made the cup unbalanced, and spill all over Victor's desk, and homework.

a) Give up on homework and go watch TV, go to 8
b) flip out, go to 6

6) Victor couldn't believe he what he just did. all of his homework was completely ruin. He quickly tried to clean up the horrible mess he had just made, but it took a long time. All too soon, his brother Nathan came home from basketball with his parents, and worse yet, they were happy. Victor's mood was further lowered by the fact that the rest of his family was happy. Then Victor had a dark thought. Will they be so happy when they find Nathan's glasses? He smiled darkly to himself, waiting for their conversations to stop. Victor finished cleaning the mess, and walked out to the kitchen to throw away the paper towels. As he was walking into the kitchen though, he heard a crunch underneath his feet that made all movement and noise stop. Victor looked down and piked up his foot. Underneath his shoe, were the glasses he had placed their earlier. THE END!

7) Victor looked down at his shoe to see the broken pieces of a Hamilton CD. Victor's shoulders fell, as he realised this was his dad's signed copy. He had no idea why his dad's CD would be in the floor without a case in his room, but it was. Victor wasn't sure what to do. He knew his dad wasn't particularly fond of this CD, but he didnt know what to do.

a) put it back in the case, go to 10
c) throw it out, go to 4

8) Victor was done, just done. He cleaned up the mess and threw his homework in the trash. He went downstair and turned on the TV. Throwing a blanket over himself (what? it was cold in the basement!), he changed the chanel from the news to MTV. He sat there for then next hour until his parents came home with Nathan, his brother. THE END!

9) Victor sighed. It's a wonder why they don't get rid of that cat, he is such a nusince. Salvaging what he could from the rubble, Victor cleaned up his room of paper bits and went to the den to fire up the computer. His school has a really neat website where teachers can post the worksheets so students can print them. Victor finds the work that he needs and prints them out. He goes back up to his room, firmly shuts the door, and begins his homework again. THE END!

10) A sly thought came to Victor's head. What if he just put the CD remains back in the case? Out of sight out of mind right? Victor went to the den where the CD stands were. He arranged the pieces so that it fit the shap of the CD case, then slide the case back into the stand, even taking the effort to switch the CD with one on the bottom of the stand. Nobody would ever notice it there! Basking in his brilliance, Victor walked back up the stairs and continued his homework. THE END!

Hope you enjoyed my story! Sorry if parts don't make sense, this was actually pretty hard to write. my next post will have pictures, so stay tuned!

Story Sunday # 9!!

One hundred and one shiny beads
lay scattered on the floor,
they haven't moved
just like the girl
since the day before.

The sun creates a shimmering firework
when shone through the beads,
dancing on her face,
on her stomach
shifting as she bleeds.

Footsteps coming up the stairs,
groaning with their weight,
badges gleaming,
as their eyes look
on the girl's cruel fate.

A camera captures the moment forever
evidence of his crime,
of the body,
of the wound
a devious mastermind.

Hours after the police leave the scene
the house a quiet shell,
a figure rises,
above the house
to where she'll forever dwell.

But within her a blue fire is raging
the unsettled spirt's revenge,
must come,
swiftly come
or else she will avenge.
