I read ALOT so i thought i would let you know whats good and whats not! I list these in no particular order.
- Half Broke Horses, by Jeannette Walls four stars
This is a true-life novel about Jeannette Walls' grandmother Lily Casey Smith. Lily grew up on the frontier, breaking horses with her father. She learned how to drive a car, fly a plane, and get her teaching degree. This woman made it through natural disasters, the depression, personal tragedy, death, and prejudice. This book is a great read, with new things happening all the time.
- The Year of Disappearances, by Susan Hubbard four stars
A novel about young Ariella Montero, half human, half vampire. She spent the first 13 years of her life in exile from both societies, until her best friend was murdered. She fled to Florida, but one by one, the things she cares about keep disappearing, and she might be next. She can hypnotize, read minds, and become invisible, but can she escape her stalkers? We watch as she moves in to a Georgia collage, and she comes face to face with zombies that are creeping into America. A very good read, this book give a new perspective on the sappy Twilight vampires vs. the brainless nasty vampires.
This is the sequel to the book The Society of S, which is equally awesome!
- Crowned, By Julie Linker Three Stars
Presley Loves the pageant world, she can walk the walk and talk the talk. She is kind of an odd duck though, because unlike most pageant girls, her parents aren't loaded. She does pageants mainly for the scholarships and opportunities, but also thinks it is fun. She has made it to Miss Teen State, except there is one tiny problem in her way, her archenemy Megan Leighton. Sabotage, stolen boyfriends, and ruined hair, are all present in this tale. This book has a pretty good story line, but its clearly written for younger people to understand, A.K.A poorly written. If you like the Clique, you may like this. Or you may not. I don't know.
