School Supplies

UGH! School is starting soon. Nobody likes school. Parents are sick of spending money on things that you're just going to need again in midyear or next year. Then the kids are bummed. We have to stay sitting all day indoors, when it is a perfectly nice day outside. Of course all summer you probably rarely went outside. In a time like this, I would like to repeat a quote. "It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until  it arrives." So, now to the school supplies! I have compiled a totally math short list of school supplies.

Heading our list are Smencils!

next are cute little light bulb shaped paperclips. I bought some shaped paper clips at 5below recently, and you should try to find some too! they are really neat!

It may not look up to par, but this white-out pen is fun to play with! doodling on your agenda book and folders is made much cooler with this!

Why buy zillions of pens, when you can just buy one, multi-colored pen? I'm a fan of them, i am bringing one to school! i found mine in Claire's, for like a dollar. It has maybe 7 colors. defiantly worth it!

A magnetic dry-erase bored for your locker?! why didn't i get that?! you can leave yourself a message, or maybe just doodle, on this! perhaps get yourself a set of colorful dry-erase markers to go with, hmm?

Sorry the message is so brief, but i have to go to bed for school tomorrow. I will blog again soon, telling you about my first day. Laters!!

So tell me, what is YOUR favorite school supplies to buy? leave your comment below :)

Things Women do and a Tough Question

It may seem odd, but it is true. these are some things, that only women do:
  • A woman does not have a man’s habit to scratch her noggin when she thinks of an answer to a confusing question. Women do not like to show they are confused. They never want to ruin their hairdo with that gesture either.
  • Women never shudder when a male character gets kicked in the groin in a movie.
  • When a woman yawns she covers her mouth with the palm of her hand, not with a fist.
  • After taking a bath, a woman grabs a towel and makes a turban on her head from it, at least for one minute. The reasons of such a weird Oriental ritual are unknown.
  • A woman feels awkward if she does not carry anything in her hands. That is why they always carry their handbags around.
  • Sitting down in public transportation, women keep their legs together. That is why men often prefer to sit next to a woman because in this case they can sit spread-eagle.
  • When a woman dresses up to go out, she puts on a blouse first. Pants come second. Men work it vice versa.
Now it's time for the Tough Question:

You are driving down the road in your car in the middle of the night, while an intense storm is brewing. You suddenly pass by a bus stop and you see three people waiting for the bus:
1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.
2. An old friend who once saved your life.
3. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing that there could only be
one passenger in your car?
This is a moral/ethical situation that was once actually used as part of a job application.
Think about it, you could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die soon, and thus you should
save her first. Or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life,
and this could be the chance to return the favor. However, you may never be
able to find your perfect mate again.
The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) came with this answer.
"I would give the car keys to my old friend and let him take the lady to the hospital. I would stay behind
and wait for the bus with the partner of my dreams."
Pretty good answer huh? I wonder what the job he was applying for was, eh? Write your answer/ reaction in the comments. Remember to "think outside of the box."

Product Review!! and Quiz

Nuttella- Five Stars
One word. Delicious. It tastes chocolaty, with a bit of nutty taste. It has the consistency of hot fudge, but sticky like peanut butter. So good, i don't see how it gets away with being served at breakfast. Then again, how does coffee "cake" and doughnuts pass as breakfast food? I even ate it with ice-cream. YUM.

Aveeno Anti Itch Concentrated Lotion- Two Stars
Its better than Calamine lotion, as its not bright pink and doesn't dry out. It doesn't fight itch any better than cortisone cream. Eh, its ok.

Try out my quiz on Dr. Seuss! Are you Seuss enough to WIN? Or will you miserably FAIL? Only taking this quiz can tell you.

Book Reviews

I read ALOT so i thought i would let you know whats good and whats not! I list these in no particular order.

  • Half Broke Horses, by Jeannette Walls   four stars
This is a true-life novel about Jeannette Walls' grandmother Lily Casey Smith. Lily grew up on the frontier, breaking horses with her father. She learned how to drive a car, fly a plane, and get her teaching degree. This woman made it through natural disasters, the depression, personal tragedy, death, and prejudice. This book is a great read, with new things happening all the time.

  • The Year of Disappearances, by Susan Hubbard   four stars
A novel about young Ariella Montero, half human, half vampire. She spent the first 13 years of her life in exile from both societies, until her best friend was murdered. She fled to Florida, but one by one, the things she cares about keep disappearing, and she might be next. She can  hypnotize, read minds, and become invisible, but can she escape her stalkers? We watch as she moves in to a Georgia collage, and she comes face to face with zombies that are creeping into America. A very good read, this book give a new perspective on the sappy Twilight vampires vs. the brainless nasty vampires. This is the sequel to the book The Society of S, which is equally awesome!
  • Crowned, By Julie Linker  Three Stars
Presley Loves the pageant world, she can walk the walk and talk the talk. She is kind of an odd duck though, because unlike most pageant girls, her parents aren't loaded. She does pageants mainly for the scholarships and opportunities, but also thinks it is fun. She has made it to Miss Teen State, except there is one tiny problem in her way, her archenemy Megan Leighton. Sabotage, stolen boyfriends, and ruined hair, are all present in this tale. This book has a pretty good story line, but its clearly written for younger people to understand, A.K.A poorly written. If you like the Clique, you may like this. Or you may not. I don't know.

Hardcover Books

GAR!! I am trying to but the Harry Potter books 3-6 in hardcover, but do you know the price difference between the hardcover and paperback? The total price for the three books in paperback is $35.96, while the total price for hardcover is $141.17. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?? I could have bought the entire hardcover box set for less ($140.40)!! The cost of stuff these days. People used to be able to buy books for nickels. Why? Because people thought reading was only valuable to city folk. Sheesh.

Paintings

Today I told myself, "Rachael, you have to finish your paintings." So that's what I did. Here are the finished results:

So tell me, which do you like better? I personally like the octopus the best. I like the people in the pier painting, but the rest of it i'm not happy with. Comment your thoughts below, or give me an idea for something new to paint. Thanks, and have a nice day :)

Spaghettios

Hey hey hey! Nothing much has happened today, pretty uneventful. I tried singing "American Pie" in the shower, but I forgot the words. It is a pretty long song you know, over 8 minutes. Then I got to thinking, my cat is probably freaking out. I mean, wouldn't you if you heard my screeching from the shower? I also had a bowl of alphabet Spaghettios for lunch. Gosh I love Spaghettios, the shapes are just so much fun. When my mom and i go to the store, I try to get her to buy the fun shapes. Downstairs right now, we have alphabet, Car's, princess, and original. I don't really like the hot dog ones, they have a weird texture. OOH! That reminds me! of course when your eating alphabet shaped food, you have to spell something out, right? So i wrote a little something random. I don't know why I chose that phrase, it just came to me. Eww, it just occurred to me that the tomato sauce looks like blood. Ha, I just thought of a story based of my noodle writing :)
It says "back off mister" to those who can't see

*clears throat* Once upon a time, a girl named Rachael went to her local Wal-Mart on a Spaghettios run. You see it was lunch time, and she had a hankering for cheap, alphabet shaped noodles. She grabbed a shopping basket and rushed to the "canned foods" aisle, ignoring the blue clad employees’ questions of "can I help you with that?" As she turned the corner, she realized that she was not alone in her noodle craving, as there was one, lone can of alphabet Spagettios left. She smiled, grateful of her luck. But she was premature in her joy, for she saw a man round the corner, with a crazed look on his face. The crazed look, of Spagettios deficiency. The man must have seen her too, because he stopped. He looked her straight in the eye, and smirked. Rachael began running, there wasn’t much time. The upper hand was hers, for she had a bowl of Spagettios yesterday, and the super human strength had not totally worn off. Her eyes were on the can, and she watched as her hand wrapped around the paper label. She watched, as his hand reached around at the same time. She looked up, almost in slow motion, to see the man looking straight at her. “I saw it first.” She said, not breaking eye contact. “But I need it,” replied the man, his voice strangled. Rachael’s eyes hardened, “I’m not going to tell you again, back off mister.” The man didn’t move. Rachael took a half step back with her back foot, and then came forward, swinging her basket carrying arm at his head. The man was unprepared, and made the mistake of turning his head towards the attack. The crunch that came next was a clear sign that a history of cosmetic surgeries was to come; Rachael had smashed his nose. He fell to the floor, clutching his face in pain. Rachael quickly snatched the Spagettios, put it in her broken, blood stained basket, and went on her merry way.

Hope you enjoyed my story, comment your reaction!

Say "Hello" to Madison!!

On Saturday afternoon my mom and I went to pick up the cutest ball of fluff you'll ever see, Madison. She is a Maine Coon mix, and loves to nibble on fingers (she's teething). At five weeks old, she is already litter trained, and sleeps most of the night. She does great with car rides, and loves cuddling. Just last night, she climbed onto my bed and slept right next to me.
Because Maddie also likes water! My mom and i gave her a bath last night, and she didn't hate it. She didn't love it, but we really didn't giver time to play. I'm pretty sure she would have splashed around if we had. You could really tell how little she was when she was wet. It was kind of scary actually. She looked so fragile.
